Title

Certainly things like temple prostitution killing of twins sacrifice of even human beings to idols have religious connotations. However with the coming of Christ the face of the world began to change. Some evil religious practices that hindered the progress of civilization were stopped or christianized. Though some of these things were intended to achieve good results but their implementation sometimes were corrupted. Permit me to illustrate using one example education. The history of civilization and enlightenment is conterminous with the development of education. Even before the advancement of Christianity education was recognized as a catalyst for development. Epictetus said that education enhances the movement from barbarism to civilization. I have said the foregoing to illustrate the place of education in the transformation of the society. Back home the task of education was masterfully undertaken by missionaries. What is good about missionary educati! on is that it goes beyond intellectual insemination to character formation. Permit me to use a personal experience to illustrate the above point. For three years I was literally alone in the courts fighting for justice. I insisted and fought to the last. We are enjoying so many things today because of the strong religious support we received in the past. This is part of the reason why the world is now being turned upside down. In Nigeria we witness churches conferring honour and dignitaries on people of questionable character. Our people the Igbos can boast of the highest concentration of entrepreneurial spirits. We are hardworking have climatic adaptability that enables us to prosper in every climatic zone. Our people now take as role models those without honest means of livelihood. Regrettably these people are also honoured by the churches. We now witness in Anambra people who are solely after the treasury of the State. Under my administration we have built th! e first Secretariat in Anambra. We are physically developing our high er institutions we have rebuilt all torched institutions during the mayhem of November . My achievements are transformational they are hinged on the development of human capital that will see to their implementation. It is the simultaneous development of all sectors. Once faithfully implemented as we are determined to it will bring genuine development to our people. It is only through this that we can have a genuinely transformed world.
