McLain could be back as a radio host

Same hours same studio new lower salary. began simulcasting as Detroit s Sports Powerhouse last month. Same content more range new lower variety for radio listeners. McLain it turns out has heard the same thing. He just hasn t heard it from anybody in position to hire a talk show host. I suspect it s the same three people he says saying it over and over. McLain lives in Pinckney with his wife Sharyn. He could pitch as well as anyone in baseball. He played the organ. He flew his own plane. He golfed well enough to hustle other good golfers. It wasn t enough. He and some partners bought a meatpacking company in Chesaning. Within a month they were helping themselves to million from the pension fund. For this felony conviction his second he served six years. Everyone in radio is aware of his talent. Everyone period is aware of his past. How do you put a guy like that back on the air Carefully says a producer I know. The producer says it s a can t miss.! You hire him week to week. You let listeners vote Keep him or boot him. You hear outrage from some listeners and forgiveness from others. You have to be bold or even brazen. I can t honestly say I would do it. I can t even say he would within those parameters we didn t talk specifics. But yes he says he d love to be back in radio. I ve heard from stations once in awhile over the past three or four years McLain says. Nobody has solidly said Let s do this or that. We re all ears. Ideally he d go broader than sports. If sports was what helped him through the door fine. Jamie Samuelsen and Greg Brady can do it too. They re the gone and quite likely back morning team at WDFN. Good pairing great guys strong show. Maybe you ve heard of them maybe you haven t. With McLain there s no question. But there s probably too much else. Reach Neal Rubin at or nrubindetnews. Detroit tax breaks go to the well heeled Oct. I can't be bothered with anything recently. I've basically been doing nothing to speak of, but oh well. Today was a complete loss.
