The Post Office has announced plans to close branches in London as part of a wider m! ove to shut across the UK because of rising losses. Branches in Hall Lane Chingford Grove Green Road Leytonstone and Leyton High Road are listed. And three branches in Walthamstow in Forest Road Orford Road and Chingford road also face the axe. Cllr Loakes said Like many people in our community I am angry that six of our local post offices have been earmarked for closure. They are a vital resource for residents who rely on local post offices for financial services. advertisement There is a tendency to see post office closures as a rural issue but that is just not right. Post offices are vital to city communities like Waltham Forest. A six week public consultation has now opened into the plans.
